Georgy Danelia: Cinematic Storyboard
17 ERMOLAYEVSKY LANE
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
The Moscow Museum of Modern Art presents Georgy Danelia: Cinematic Storyboard, an exhibition of graphic works by one of the most significant figures in Soviet cinema. The exhibition explores Danelia's graphic practice and considers the relationship between drawing and filmmaking in his work. Through storyboards, sketches and graphic works, it traces the development of cinematic ideas from page to screen.
The exhibition, spanning two floors of the MMOMA Education Centre, is organised chronologically. It focuses on Danelia’s graphic work, tracing the development of his creative vision through drawing. Visitors will see how his artistic method evolved and how characters, situations and entire worlds familiar from his films first emerged in quick sketches. Bringing graphic works into dialogue with materials from the film archive, the exhibition presents Danelia in a new light — not only as master of cinema, but also as a distinctive graphic artist.
