About the exhibition

The Moscow Museum of Modern Art and the FUTURO Gallery proudly present Evgenia Tut’s solo exhibition Slow Shores, which reveals a collective image of the inner world of a travelling artist.

Evgenia’s works are metaphorical and creating not literal pictures of landscapes, but mental spaces full of emotions and visual impressions. In today's world of information overload and high tech, the project invites the viewer to search for a protected place – an inner sanctuary where one can reconnect with oneself. Travelling along the ‘mental map’ designed by the artist, the viewer is immersed in imaginary spaces where personal memories and feelings form a new universal language.

The exposition is based on Evgenia’s multimedia works – videos, installations, photographs and graphics. Six sections smoothly flow into each other, creating a unified fabric of memories and feelings. The opening section is about the artist's interdisciplinary interest in the ‘space and writing’ dichotomy, describing her methods of exploring spaces and territories. The artist records her feelings about life with pen strokes in so-called ‘diaries’ and captures them in a series of photographs taken on a smartphone while travelling. The trajectory of the journey is formed by a series of graphic works Path, where many points line up in unique lines, forming humming clouds of mental content. The final section of the exhibition, Sunrise over the Sea, refers to the very place of sacred encounter.

About the gallery

The FUTURO Gallery is an independent contemporary art gallery from Nizhny Novgorod, founded in 2016. The gallery’s signature is a unique ruined Art Nouveau space located in the building of the former house of the City Society, a monument of architecture and urban planning of the 19th century. Working with guest curators, FUTURO has realised many exhibition projects, including those in collaboration with other cultural institutions. FUTURO presents both recognised artists – nominees and finalists of contemporary art awards – and emerging young artists who work with relevant media. The gallery regularly takes part in contemporary art fairs and is a member of the Association of Galleries.
