ABOUT THE VENUE

The Vadim Sidur Museum preserves and displays contemporary sculpture and a collection of works by the sculptor, painter and poet, recognised in Russia and abroad, a prominent representative of Soviet neo-formal art. The first retrospective of Vadim Sidur in his homeland opened after the artist's death in September 1987 in the exhibition hall of the Perovsky district. During the seven weeks of the exhibition, it was visited by about 15 thousand people. In 1989 the exhibition was given official museum status.

The Vadim Sidur Museum in 2018 became part of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, and today has become not only a place of storage and representation of the artist's heritage, but also a space for discussion and implementation of the current cultural agenda.

The museum's collection includes more than 1,000 sculptures and graphic works by Vadim Sidur, as well as archival materials and photographs of the sculptor. The museum works intensively with the collection, demonstrating new approaches to exhibiting the artworks. The current permanent exhibition was prepared in co-operation with the artist Anna Titova. The museum also showcases the work of contemporary artists who create projects in dialogue with the collection, its history, mission and space.

The library's collections include Russian and foreign publications about Vadim Sidur, exhibition catalogues, research collections, fiction with Sidur's illustrations, a series of poetry collections Evenings at the Museum of Sidur, as well as literature on the theory of contemporary culture and art, cultural studies, contemporary philosophy and critical thought.

One of the objectives of the Vadim Sidur Museum is to form a local community. Two comfortable workplaces fully equipped with computers and Internet access are at the visitors' disposal. Here you can not only scan and print documents, but also get acquainted with the museum staff, artists and curators. The bookstore offers exhibition catalogues and scientific publications of the MMOMA, as well as souvenirs.
