ALEXANDER PLUSNIN THE WORLD WITHOUT HUMANITY IS OF NO INTEREST TO ME
December 8, 2022—January 29, 2023
The Vadim Sidur Museum and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art proudly announce a solo exhibition by Alexander Plusnin, The World Without Humanity is of No Interest to Me. The artist’s new work is a single multitool installation, a multifunctional tool for all occasions, and a set of Allen keys to reality. The quote from Vadim Sidur’s interview from the 1970s, which is used as the exhibition’s title, becomes a participant of the space, a mirror cipher that rhymes with other magical objects.
The objects of the installation, scattered throughout the exposition, are like elements of a metaphorical multi-tool-a multifunctional tool for all occasions: a Dharma wheel, a prayer drum made of car tires, or the photographed ruins of a previous era are retransmitters that link different temporal layers together and serve as the markers of the technological component of the modern world and the ghost world that has passed into the past but is still making its way into reality.
The turning of the Dharma wheel, which comes from interaction with one of the objects of the exhibition, leaves the viewer to choose and, at the same time, reminds them of the cyclical nature of time. Reflections on instability and fluidity as properties of time find expression in the messages to future generations that will be incorporated into the museum walls for the next 50 years.
