The Moscow Museum of Modern Art presents the solo exhibition of Nikita Makarov. A compelling and busy painter, he had graduated from the Surikov Art Institute and devoted himself since then to the exploration of the possibilities of landscape.

The Moscow Museum of Modern Art presents an exhibition titled «Institute Of Strikingly modern Esthetics Formally known as Backstein», which will showcase an impressive contemporary art collection amassed by Joseph Backstein (or Iosef, an alternative spelling more conductive to acronym), the mastermind behind the Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art, the director of the Institute of Contemporary Art, a curator and art critic and one of the forefathers of Moscow Conceptualism.

September 5 — October 8, 2017

The Moscow Museum of Modern Art together with the Zarya Center for Contemporary Art presents an exhibition titled «Rebels at the Edge: Contemporary Art in Vladivostok. 1960s-2010s» which aims to acquaint Moscow audiences with the development of contemporary art in Primorye through works created by both young artists and the pioneers of Vladivostok nonconformist art.

The Moscow Museum of Modern Art presents a solo exhibition by musician Sergey Shnurov entitled «Brandrealism: A Retrospective», which is a continuation of Shnurov’s highly-acclaimed exhibition recently held in Erarta Museum in Saint Petersburg.

APRIL 25 — MAY 28, 2017

The Moscow Museum of Modern Art in partnership with Salamatina Gallery (New York) presents the first solo exhibition of the Russian-American artist Naum Medovoy to take place in Russia. The exhibition includes Medovoy’s last graphic series titled «Last March» and video-installations produced in collaboration with young video-artists Trevor Tweeten and Nikita Shokhov.

As part of the 10th Moscow International Biennale ‘Fashion and Style in Photography 2017’ the Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow presents projects from contemporary Russian photographers: ‘Gifted & Stolen’ by Igor Vereshchagin, ‘Portraits Beyond Time’ by Sergei Kuksin and ‘Sitting on a Beautiful Hill’ by Dmitry Skornyakov (Mitya Leykin), in which they reflect on the relationship between the photographer and his subjects, and the special magic sparked at the moment of shooting, when artist and model begin an invisible dialogue.

The Moscow Museum of Modern Art presents the exhibition project by Vladimir Opara «I exist in a constantly changing landscape». For the first time, the exhibition will join the artist’s projects that were previously shown in Germany, the Netherlands, Latvia, and Russia.

The Moscow Museum of Modern Art and Triumph Gallery present a solo exhibition of Maria Safronova «The Common Private» featuring paintings and installations from the artist’s three series executed for the last five years. The exhibition is being held within the MMOMA Program for Support to Young Art and the Young Lions project of the Triumph Gallery.
