The black-and-white image of an "Art Deco" cutie from the early photographic "Х-position" series is a clear allusion to German erotic postcards of interwar period. Like a Queen of the world, the naked model of Tatiana Lieberman is standing, having negligently leaned against a gigantic globe. As is known, ambivalent attitude towards questions of physicality was built in totalitarian aesthetics (not only fascist but also Soviet one). On the one hand, erotica and pornography were officially under the strictest prohibition, on the other, there existed a special love to the body from the side of dictatorship, which was openly expressed in the cult of beauty and nation's health. In his work, that is simultaneously visually attractive, ironic and disturbing, Liberman is reminding us of the fact that the image of the body in art can not be neutral, but is always having a powerful political charge.
