The artist uses the metaphor originating from the influential concept of the Renaissance philosophy – every painting is a window to the world, – as a basis for this series. Chuikov creates a window that looks like the real one – with a massive frame and even a metal handle. Nevertheless, he turns the space beyond the window into the realm of mysterious images that are completely different from what we usually see through the glass. Those familiar with the history of art will recognize in this "Roman" profile the portrait of Federico da Montefeltro by famous Italian artist Piero della Francesca. However, in Chuikov’s work one sees only a blue silhouette and a red dot. What is it? The reflection of the sun in the Mediterranean sea? Or maybe a laser sight at the temple of classics ridiculed by postmodernism?
